Designing for over twenty-five years, I connect my experience as a performer with my technical knowledge of textiles, pattern making, and visual design to create looks that tell the story of the show while meeting the challenges performers face every performance, including choreography, quick changes, and above all: comfort.

As a founder and the principal creative director behind Max Elements, I realized in 2013 that I needed a change. Over the past ten years, I've spent time reflecting and growing. As part of that experience, I've completed my master's and doctoral degrees, and grown our family. These experiences have given me insight into what drives and motivates me, as well as what brings me joy.

At the beginning of the 2022/2023 school year, my daughter asked to try on a Max Elements dress we had forgotten about in storage. It fit her perfectly and she insisted on it becoming her dress for homecoming since its built-in LED light feature fit well with the dance's theme: Out of this World. After adding more sequins and rhinestones to personalize it along with matching shoes, she was ready, and most importantly, she felt good. Her happiness that night reminded me of the power I have in helping others feel happy, confident, and special when they wear my creations.

This inspired me to create Starry Sky Custom Designs, named for our daughter, Jamie Star, and son, Skyler.
